I’ll address SetPixels directly:
Your kind of leftist does not want people to enjoy life. You do not want people going to brunch and talking with friends. You do not want people creating meaningful connections with their neighbors, or with their peers, or with with professional colleagues, or with their family. You just love the aesthetics of revolution, and you want people to cosplay at that, and nothing else. You want people at protests, perpetually, till the end of time. You have no positive vision for what you would do if you gained power, because, after all, if you gained power, and raised everyone's standard of living, then people would go to brunch, and you hate that. If you gained power, then your own people would no longer be able to go to protests, since you would be the one's they were protesting against. And you prefer protests over goverance. You prefer complaining over action. You prefer shouting from the sidelines rather than actually being a player in the game. You do not want power, because that would bring responsibility, and you are allergic to any kind of responsibility. You have a modern Leftism, born of social media, a Leftism that mostly exists online. It's the Leftism of teenagers who are upset with their parents, able to detail certain grievances, but unable to detail how things should be different, aside from the aesthetics.
I wrote the above on Twitter and someone responded:
To which I responded:
Your anti-intellectualism doesn't make you stronger, it makes you weaker. Your anti-intellectualism is why no one in politics takes you seriously. Your anti-intellectualism is why your movement will forever remain a sad joke. I only wrote 229 words, in high school my teachers would barely consider that a full paragraph, but apparently it is overwhelming for your poor brain. You do not belong in this conversation. You are mentally unable to take part in this conversation.
Much of the far-left on Twitter seems proud of its anti-intellectualism, it’s lack of reading, it’s lack of self-discipline. These people will never achieve anything until they get serious, do the work, put in the time, and in particular, put in the years of hard study that is needed to master history, economics, and technical policy details, sufficient to have meaningful opinions about governance.
I don’t know if he really didn’t read it or he’s just letting you know that he doesn’t respect your opinion and doing the equivalent of yelling “booooring!” at a lecture. It might be more of a twitter problem than a leftist problem that some people don’t read long blocks of text. I can barely do it myself.
